Su-Mae Khoo

Production services for broadcasters, companies and agencies

We offer the very best in factual production.

Producer | Director | Writer

Su-Mae Khoo has worked in television for 30 years.

As a producer-director-writer, she has made documentaries for Discovery Channel, Science Channel, History Channel, Asian Food Channel and Channel News Asia. These include programmes for well-respected companies like Lion Television and Darlow Smithson Productions.

As a remote location producer-director, Su-Mae is also a reliable executor of editorial briefs for directors who are unable to be on-the-ground in person - pushing the limits to achieve a specific vision and offering creative alternatives in shifting conditions. Projects she has remote directed have been seen on National Geographic Channel, Channel 4, Smithsonian Channel and PBS NOVA.

Previously a broadcasting executive with Discovery Networks and National Geographic Channel, Su-Mae has a practical understanding of factual broadcasters' needs.

Su-Mae studied film in London and has an Masters Degree in Social Anthropology from SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) at the University of London. The factual genres she has worked in encompass history, science, archaeology, politics, astronomy, engineering, culture and travel.

A native English speaker, Su-Mae is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.

"She is an extremely capable and reliable producer, who also acted as Location Director on my behalf in Shenzhen, China, on a very high profile production ..."
